Mission
Our Mission is to see that every child receives a world-class education. We are also focused on equal access to that world-class education.
Distinctiveness
Edison Schools use a unique curricular and instructional design based on research and updated through the use of research. Our curricular offering includes instruction in Spanish, art, and music for all students including the primary grades. Students use technology as an integrated part of their daily instruction. The leadership structure of our schools includes a teacher leadership program, and those teachers receive an additional salary for their leadership duties. Finally, Edison's Professional Development program is unlike any offered in this country. Teachers receive Professional Development everyday as well as throughout the year. This is both local and national in scope.
How the School Defines Success
Success is objectively measured by how well our students perform in the aggregate on their state and national tests. We also measure success by how much of a gap exists within the sub-populations of the school; the smaller the gap, the greater our success. Our parents, students, and teachers are given access each year to the Harris Interactive Survey, which gives each group an opportunity to provide anonymous feedback as to their satisfaction with the many components of the school. We also subjectively measure success on how happy and well adjusted our students are in our schools.
